With vibrant gardens and ivy-draped ruins, Barnsley Resort offers you a wedding venue unlike any other. Located in the quiet town of Adairsville, Georgia, this resort knows how to plan unique celebrations perfect for the next chapter of your love story. As a Georgia intimate wedding photographer, I have been lucky enough to see what makes this space so special. Here’s what you need to know about planning your Barnsley Resort wedding!
597 Barnsley Gardens Road, Adairsville, Georgia 30103
Long before it was a beloved resort wedding venue, Barnsley served as a manor home known as Woodlands. The house was intended to be a gift from Godfrey Barnsley to his wife, Julia. When Julia died before the construction was complete, Godfrey continued to build it as a tribute to his dear soulmate. His family lived in the home for six decades until a fateful day when a tornado came through town and tore the roof off. While the family continued to call the space their home, they never were able to return the former Italian-inspired villa to its original glory. The house still stands amidst the gardens as a testament to the family. The brick has seen the effects of time with discolored bricks and ivy-lined walls. Today, it serves as a breathtaking backdrop for weddings reminiscent of the best regency-era romances.
While the former Barnsley manor serves as a popular wedding backdrop, the resort gives you plenty of options for your wedding day! I always encourage my clients to rent out a space for the weekend. The resort offers both hotel rooms and cozy cottages perfect for getting ready ahead of your celebration. Plus, you’ll have the perfect place to crash after an evening of dancing and champagne!
For your ceremony, you will have your choice of indoor and outdoor spots. Let’s chat about The Manor House Ruins first! With this historic space, you can set your guests in the yard and use the doorway as your arch. By just adding some flowers, it becomes the dreamiest spot in the world! The venue has an attached pavilion that will be perfect for a cocktail hour once that ring is on your finger! The venue will place a bar inside the ruins so you can keep the drinks flowing late into the night. You can also have your reception in this area and use the ruins for your cake table and your entertainment.
If you would prefer something a little more woodsy, the Meditation Gardens is your spot! This intimate enclave features towering trees accented with a bamboo grove. They also have a muscadine arbor where you can exchange your vows. This area can be transformed into a reception venue if you would prefer an outdoor dinner.
For those who want an indoor space, the venue has several options. Perhaps the grandest is the Georgian Hall. This space features towering cathedral ceilings accented with wooden beams and iron light fixtures. A working brick fireplace stands at the front of the room, offering a space where you can exchange your vows. Then, once your wedding is finished, an attached patio will serve as a space for your cocktail hour. With this space, you can choose to have your reception outdoors overlooking the Manor Home, or you can host it inside. With more than 9,000 square feet, you’ll have plenty of space to celebrate!
Those looking for something a little more intimate can use the Town Hall. The exterior is surrounded by lush flowers and shady trees. Meanwhile, the inside is outfitted with wood that moves seamlessly from the floor to the cathedral ceilings. It’s the perfect combination of elegant and rustic. Following your wedding, your guests can grab drinks and then head back in for a reception. This area has space for up to 120 guests.
Lastly is Saylor Hall. This open air space gives you shade from the Georgia sun while offering you a premium view of the rest of the venue. This space also offers an interior ballroom with space for up to 225 guests, and you can use it for your wedding and your reception. With Barnsley, you will have space for up to 250 guests, and you can pick and choose locations as needed for a wedding customized to your vision.
With Barnsley Resort, there are so many wonderful spots for your wedding portraits! The ruins are always a favorite. The space is downright magical, offering you a romantic, storied backdrop. The stairs leading to the former entrance are the perfect spot to sneak a kiss! I would also recommend exploring the woods and the gardens across the resort. From the dark and moody woods to bright flowers, this venue has no shortage of backgrounds for breathtaking pictures!
Barnsley Resort works with you to ensure you have everything you need for your perfect wedding. They have a list of different packages so you can pick and choose the services you will need throughout your day. One of their many offerings is an event designer who knows how to take the space and transform it according to your vision. The venue has a catering team who will work with you to create the ideal menu for your celebration. You can choose between plated dinners and strolling receptions with carving stations. Barnsley will provide you with lighting and sound equipment, and they have a preferred vendor list for everything else. Your guests will have parking on the grounds, and they can reserve a room within the hotel for easy lodging.
Emily and Javier’s wedding day at The Barnsley Resort was a heartfelt celebration of love, culture, and family. This perfect summer garden wedding had everything. Their weekend was filled with personal touches and meaningful moments that reflected both their shared history and the beauty of their individual heritages. The whole day was elegant and magical.
Emily and Javier’s Enchanting Summer Garden Wedding at Barnsley Resort where the stunning floral designs met the ruins, bringing the space to life with color and smells. Under a sky painted with golden light, Emily and Javier exchanged vows in front of their loved ones. After the ceremony, the couple took a quiet moment together, away from the crowd, to privately read their personal vows to each other. It was the perfect way for them to start their lives together, both reflecting on how far they’ve come and sharing the excitement for their lives to come.
In honor of Javier’s heritage, a live mariachi band played during the ceremony and cocktail hour. The celebration extended beyond just one day; guests were treated to a weekend of fun, including an evening where the bridesmaids created their own bouquets from freshly delivered flowers. Every detail was carefully thought out, from the hand-painted Spanish tile favors crafted by the couple to the barbers Javier brought in to give the groomsmen fresh haircuts before the wedding.
As the evening progressed, guests gathered for an exciting and fun reception. Tables were set with a blend of timeless elegance and vibrant cultural accents. The air was filled with joy, laughter, and lively music, as family and friends came together to celebrate the newly weds.
Emily and Javier’s wedding was more than just a wedding—it was a celebration that beautifully showcased their love story, intertwined with their cultures and the close connections they had with their guests. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, which brought to life the perfect atmosphere of joy and meaning.
Every wedding I have the honor of capturing holds its own special magic, but Emily and Javier’s celebration was truly unforgettable. The way they blended love, culture, and personal touches made their day so fun to be a part of. Their wedding was a reflection of their unique journey together, and I find myself can’t wait to capture more celebrations that are just as meaningful and personal.
I cannot wait to capture more weddings just like this summer garden wedding. If you are looking for a venue for your garden wedding, I think you are going to fall head over heels for a Barnsley Resort wedding! This unique space offers dreamy backdrops perfect for your celebration.
